It has been noticed that Sony Xperia Z, ZR and Z Tablet receives minor firmware updates. Currently, the 10.7.A.0.222 built Android 5.1.1 is being used on the Sony Xperia Z devices, but now it is seen that a small firmware update is rolling out to the Sony Xperia Z, ZR and Z Tablet variants of the device. This update is an Android 5.1.1 Lollipop built 10.7.A.0.228 firmware. It is also seen that this update is exposing the devices to Stagefright Exploit. Some other changes also have been seen after the update in the devices.

Sony Xperia Z, ZR and Z Tablet Receives Minor Firmware Updates

Currently, the update is rolling out to the 4G LTE variants of the Sony Xperia Z – C6603, Sony Xperia ZR – C5503, and Sony Xperia Tablet Z – SGP321. Currently, the update is available in single regions; soon this update will be rolled out in other regions also.

This update is a patch for Stagefright to your Sony Xperia Z series phones. Earlier, the update was tested by PTCRB and authenticated the update to roll out. This update was issued for Sony Xperia Z, Sony Xperia ZL, Sony Xperia ZR, and Sony Xperia Tablet Z devices. Currently, the update is available for a single region on Sony Xperia X, Sony Xperia ZR, and Sony Xperia Tablet Z. This update is slowly rolling out and will reach to other regions as well as Sony Xperia ZL variant devices also. You will also be able to see some small changes including the path for Stagefright after updating your device.
