Flipkart is ruling the mobile commerce in India with 47% mobile commerce traffic. According to SimilarWeb analytics of December 2015, Flipkart is No 1 mobile commerce company. In India, there are many mobile apps for shopping like Snapdeal, Amazon, Jabong, Shopclues, Flipkart, and Myntra. Flipkart acquired Myntra in 2014 which was a major fashion shopping portal company. Both, Flipkart and Myntra has 63% mobile commerce traffic. Amazon shopping app has 15.86% share of mobile traffic and Snapdeal has 13.84% mobile commerce traffic. Flipkart is at number 1 position, the second is Myntra, Third position is held by Amazon and Snapdeal is at the fourth mobile commerce company.
Not only this, Flipkart is also at number one position if we see the total number of apps installed on Android smartphones. There are 37% smartphones loaded with Flipkart app of the total number of Android smartphones users in India. The Myntra is installed on 10% of the total number of Android smartphones in India. Amazon and Snapdeal each has 18% apps installed on a total number of Android smartphones. In India, there are 85% of Android smartphones share in Mobile commerce.
Flipkart is engaging users on their mobile app by releasing the offers only for mobile app. Flipkart has increased the traffic of mobile smartphones by 75%. There are only 25% desktop users who order from website of Flipkart. The credit goes to the interesting features of Flipkart mobile app like Ping, Image Search, and Flipkart Lite. There are 160 Million total number of smartphone users in India. Also, India has become the second country with 1 Billion smartphone users. The country has overtaken the United States in a number of smartphone users.
With this number of smartphone users in the country, mobile commerce is at boom. Flipkart is aware of the potential of mobile commerce in India this is why they are working to dominate the Mobile commerce. They already covered the 47% total traffic.
