After getting certification of STQC (Standardization Testing & Quality Certification) from the Government of India, InFocus will come up with Aadhaar-Enabled Iris smartphone soon in India. As per the information, the price tag will be around INR 12,000/ only.
Those who are not aware of STQC certification, let me explain. This certification is basically for the testing and quality of the product. It authenticates the use of Iris integrated devices used for biometric authentication linked under the Aadhaar project which aims to capture 2.4 billion Iris scans for biometric registration. As of now, this is the biggest biometrics project in the world. The smartphone can capture the iris image under various environments, including under direct sunlight. It uses IriTech’s superior iris image quality assessment and on-board K7 generation algorithm. The embedded algorithm can complete an image capture and K7 image generation in less than 2 seconds. The data from the device gets encrypted by a UIDAI key and it can be decrypted by Aadhaar server.
InFocus Iris Enabled Smartphone will be 4G-VoLTE enabled smartphone. It hast 4.5 inch display and it will be powered by 1.5 GHz Quad-core processor and runs on Android 5.1. They must be coming with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM which can be expanded up to 64GB. It has 2300mAh battery.
What we believe that Aadhaar Enabled InFocus Smartphone may not be that useful for general people but definitely companies, banks, security agencies, etc can take advantage of this.
